Hutchison Law Group Sees an Increase in Venture Capital Transactions, Despite National Drop
Hutchison Law Group, a leading provider of strategic business and intellectual property counsel to the Southeast’s life science and technology communities, saw an increase in the total number of venture capital transactions negotiated and closed in 2008, despite a drop in the total number of deals closed nationwide.
The number of venture capital transactions is published annually in Dow Jones & Company’s monthly journal, Private Equity Analyst. The Firm’s transaction total has increased every year since 2005, the first year the Firm participated in the rankings. The 2008 total ranks Hutchison Law Group in the top-25 nationally.
“We’re very pleased to see an increase in the deals our firm completed for the year, particularly given the downward national trend,” said Hutchison Law Group member John Fogg. “We’re also very proud of where we stand nationally. Many of the other firms listed in the report employ hundreds or thousands of attorneys. To be listed among these large national and international firms reflects our firm’s focus on the venture and entrepreneurial communities of the Southeast.”
The total number of deals closed nationwide is based on data from Thomson Reuters, Pricewaterhouse Coopers and the National Venture Capital Association.
