Hutchlaw Hosts International Lawyers

Hutchison Law Group was host to 38 lawyers from 16 countries on October 1st and 2nd 2010 at The Umstead Hotel in Cary for the fall meeting of LawExchange International. LEI is an alliance of corporate law firms representing private and public companies throughout the world.
Fred Hutchison, of Hutchison Law Group stated, “LawExchange has been of strategic value to us by providing resources for our clients as they expand on a global basis. It is great to meet twice a year with this group and to know personally the lawyers to whom we are entrusting important legal problems and transactions of our clients.”
Helga Leftwich arranged for the delegates to have lunch with members of the international community from the Research Triangle, including Marie-Claire Ribeill, French Consul and Robert Mackenzie, Canadian Consul, Rick Weddle, President of the Research Triangle Foundation, Jean Davis, Director of International Affairs of North Carolina Department of Commerce, Todd Culpepper, International Affairs Council and Jim Cain, Former Ambassador to Denmark.
Bill Wofford led a panel discussion on client development and marketing. Panel participants included LEI delegate Arnout Zappey from the Netherlands and Tim Gupton and Tim Tompkins of HPG. Justyn Kasierski moderated a panel of key players from the Triangle on “Incubating Early Stage Life Science and Technology Companies” including Dave Rizzo of NC IDEA, Juan Benito of Joystick Labs, Matt Jacobson of LaunchBox Digital, Andy Schwab of First Flight Venture and Miriam Wilson of CED.
LawExchange is expanding its membership into Latin America, with Brazil already a member. Observers from Mexico and Chile attended the conference in Raleigh. Other member delegates attending the conference included corporate and IP lawyers from Portugal, Spain, Italy, China, Japan, Denmark, Argentina, England, Israel, Germany, and Sweden.
