Hutchison PLLC Welcomes Attorneys Joshua M. Hayes and John S. Rudd to the Firm Partnership
Hutchison PLLC, a boutique firm providing strategic legal and business advice to the innovation ecosystem, is pleased to announce that Joshua M. Hayes and John S. Rudd have been named partners, effective January 1, 2022.
Josh practices corporate law, where he regularly advises entrepreneurs, startups, established companies and investors across a wide range of sectors, including software, digital marketplaces, web 3.0, medical devices, gene therapy, biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals and hemp/cannabis. He has a wealth of experience in corporate, commercial and transactional matters, including early- and late-stage equity and debt financings, mergers and acquisitions, strategic joint ventures, spinouts, licensing and corporate governance. Before joining Hutchison, Josh practiced in the Charlotte office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP where he represented a wide variety of regional and national companies in transactional, regulatory compliance and copyright and trademark matters.
Josh earned his bachelor’s degree in English and psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his law degree from the University of North Carolina School of Law.

John advises life sciences and technology companies in all stages of a company’s life cycle. John typically acts as outside general counsel working closely with founders, management teams and boards of directors on company startups and formations, licensing of intellectual property, venture capital financings, commercial transactions, mergers and acquisitions and other strategic transactions. Prior to joining Hutchison, John was an associate in the mergers and acquisitions group of Jones Day’s Tokyo office, where he advised public companies and private equity clients on various types of cross-border transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, licenses and strategic partnerships.
John received his law degree from Duke University Law School and his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
