Scott M. Bryant
Scott is a managing partner of Hutchison, office manager of the firm’s Atlanta office, and co-chair of the firm’s Life Sciences practice. He represents life sciences and technology companies, venture capital funds and early stage investors, with a focus on venture capital and other equity and debt financings, licensing and technology transactions, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, securities, joint ventures and other complex transactions. Scott’s extensive legal experience and business background as a management consultant make him a key trusted advisor to C-suite executives and corporate boards of directors.
Scott helps growing and established companies raise capital, acquire and out-license technology, collaborate with strategic partners and engage in mergers and acquisitions. In his life sciences practice, Scott focuses on structuring and negotiating transactions for drug discovery and development, biotechnology, biopharmaceuticals, healthcare technology, medical device, food innovation and ag-tech companies and financial, strategic and philanthropic investors. With his technology clients, Scott works with companies across the innovation economy, with a particular focus on software and SaaS, digital health, artificial intelligence and machine learning, digital media and entertainment, clean tech and climate solutions, electronic and mobile gaming, big data and bringing together culture (particularly music) and technology.
Scott also regularly counsels clients on the commercialization of university and research institution intellectual property, U.S. expansion for global entities and other cross-border transactions.
Prior to joining Hutchison, Scott practiced with McKenna Long & Aldridge LLP (now Dentons), Siavage Law Group, LLC, an Atlanta-based technology and venture law firm, and Holt Ney Zatcoff & Wasserman, LLP, a boutique Atlanta corporate law firm. While at UVA Law, Scott was a summer associate with Gunderson Dettmer in its Waltham, MA office and Morgan Lewis & Bockius in its Washington, D.C. office.
Before law school. Scott was a Senior Consultant in Andersen Consulting’s (now Accenture) New York City and Charlotte, NC offices, and a technology consultant with Pathways Consulting in Atlanta. Scott also was a full-time touring musician and founder of an independent record label, which he still runs.
